    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an element which can impose various modulation by an interferometer type optical modulator including a Fabry-P'erot resonator for a coherent light passing system. CONSTITUTION: The light of a light source 1 is passed through an isolator 11 and split by a beam splitter 7 to two orthogonal directions, and one is reflected by the Fabry-P'erot resonator 3a and returned to the beam splitter 7. The other beam is passed through a 1/4λ plate 14, reflected by a Fabry-P'erot resonator 3b, and returned to the beam splitter 7. Here, both the reflected beams are multiplexed and made to interfere with each other, so that output light 16 is guided out through a 1/2 λ plate 17. The medium of the Fabry-P'erot resonator is given electrooptic effects and resonance wavelength is varied with an electric field to modulate the output light 16.
