Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-round moisture-tight re-sealable container with a round sealing surface.SOLUTION: A hinged container is disclosed, including a base, a lid, and a hinge joining the base and lid, allowing the lid to pivot open or closed relative to the base. One of the base and the lid has a circular, outwardly tapered outer seal member disposed at least partially within its outer perimeter. The other of the base and the lid has a circular, inwardly-tapered inner seal member disposed at least partially within its outer perimeter. The inner and outer seal members are positioned to engage concentrically to wedge the inwardly and outwardly tapered surfaces together and form a seal when the base and the lid are closed, and to disengage concentrically to part the inwardly and outwardly tapered surfaces when the base and the lid are opened.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to product dispensers, and in particular dispensers for products in the form of strips. The product dispenser includes a container having a lid that may be pivotally attached to a base. According to an embodiment, the assembly includes a cartridge housing and a dispensing cartridge. The dispensing cartridge is configured to house a stack of strips. A guide is biased by a spring to push a presser bar against the bottom portion of the stack of the strips toward the dispensing end of the assembly. When a strip is to be dispensed, a slider is moved from a first position to a second position, causing a slider arm to contact and assist in rotating a strip toward a dispensing opening. At least a corner of the rotated strip may protrude through the dispensing opening so that a user may remove the strip from the assembly.

Abstract:
A dispenser (10) is disclosed for dispensing a single object (22, 24) at a time, such as a tablet or the like. The dispenser includes a reservoir (26) to contain tablets and an opening in the reservoir sized to pass the tablets. A chute (30) is defined by a wall adjacent to the opening in the reservoir, and defines a dispensing path (39). A movable dispensing guide (32) has a retracted position that does not prevent the advance of tablets along the dispensing path, and an advanced position that intersects the dispensing path between the first and second tablets (22, 24) in the dispensing path. When advanced, the movable dispensing guide allows the first tablet in line to be dispensed from the path, and prevents the second tablet in line from advancing. An actuator is operable to move the movable dispensing guide from its retracted position to its advanced position.
Abstract:
A two-shot or multi-shot multi-material injection molding process is provided. The process allows dissimilar materials to be injection molded to form a single, injection molded part by creating a structural interlock between the materials to prevent the materials from separating. The structural interlock is formed by forming at least one interlock cavity adjacent to a interfacial surface of a first portion of a molded part molded from a first material, and injecting a second, different material into the mold so that the second material flows into the interlock cavity and fills it. Solidification of the second material in the interlock cavity formed by the first material creates the structural interlock between the two materials.
Abstract:
The invention is a container (20) having a base (26), a lid (30) that can be opened or closed, first and second latch portions (40, 42), and a guard (44). One of the latch portions (40, 42) is associated with the base (26), and the other of the latch portions (40, 42) is associated with the lid (30). The second latch portion (42) is positionable to engage the first latch portion (40) when the lid (30) covers the opening, and is movable to disengage the first latch portion (40). The guard (44) is associated with the second latch portion (42) and normally is in a blocking position keeping the second latch portion (42) engaged with the first latch portion (40). The guard (44) is movable laterally, relative to the first latch portion (40), from its blocking position to a releasing position allowing the second latch portion (42) to disengage the first latch portion (40).
Abstract:
A substantially moisture tight container and lid assembly for storing and packaging moisture-sensitive items comprising an assembly with a container and a lid, the lid is attached by a hinge to an upper housing portion of the container, the container has a container base, and a sidewall depending upwardly from the base, a top container surface extends inward from the sidewalls, the top container surface is provided with an opening that permits access to the interior of the container, the lid portion has a lid base with an outer periphery that extends over at least a portion of the container portion, the lid base is provided with a skirt that depends downwardly from the base portion, the skirt is configured at a location on the base portion that allows the skirt to enter into a sealing relationship with the container portion, the lid includes a member that depends downwardly from the lid, the member is configured to abut at least a portion of the interior side of the container when the lid is in the closed position resulting in a substantially moisture tight seal between the lid and the lid, and the container assembly further comprising a base portion and an upper housing portion, the upper housing portion is capable of being snap-fit into the base portion by employing a mechanical interference to form a substantially moisture-tight seal.
Abstract:
Containers with child resistant safety caps are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the cap contains (1) an overlay portion and (2) a solid base. The overlay fits over at least a portion of the cap's solid base. At an end of a first portion of the overlay, the overlay has a thumb tab for facilitating the opening and closing of the cap. Two notches are in the overlay's tubular skirt and located on opposing sides of the overlay where the first end portion meets the second end portion. When the cap is shut, the overlay is secured directly over the cap. If an upward force is only applied to the thump tab, and then the first end portion of the overlay is lifted up but the solid base of the cap remains secured to the container. If an upward force is applied to the thump tab while, simultaneously, sufficient inward force is applied to opposing sides of the overlay so as to contact and secure the tubular skirt of the cap, then the solid base is of the cap is simultaneously lifted up along with the first end portion of the overlay thereby opening the container. In a second embodiment, the container and cap assembly contains a sliding part in the cap. The sliding part may be supplied separate from the container and cap assembly, allowing the user to determine if a child-resistant or non-child resistant cap is formed. In the child resistant embodiment, the sliding part is configured within the cap whereby at least a portion of the sliding part protrudes out from the cap in a location near or proximate to the hinge. To open the cap, the user applies sufficient force to the sliding part, pushing it in a direction away from the hinge so that at least a portion the sliding part protrudes out of the portion of the cap that is substantially opposite the hinge. Then the user applies a second sufficient force in an upward direction to open the cap.
Abstract:
Containers with closures are disclosed. A closure may include at least a polymer orifice reducer (24) configured to be permanently secured to a rim (31) of an opening of a container and a flexible tamper evident seal (30) disposed on the topside of the orifice reducer (24). The flexible tamper evident seal (30), optionally foil, covers one or more openings (26) in the orifice reducer. Processes for permanently securing a closure to a container, optionally by forming a heat seal between the orifice reducer and container rim, are also disclosed.
