Abstract: A new substance having antitumor activity is obtained from an epidermal portion of rice. A substance called RBF-P is obtained by adding ethanol to an aqueous alkaline extract of rice bran, removing the insolubles and precipitating the substance by addition of an acid. This substance comprises an active substance called RBF-PM, which is insoluble in methanol, and an active substance called RBF-X, which is soluble in acetone. The substance RBF-PM is a protein containing extremely little cystine and said protein can suppress solid cancers of mice. The substance RBF-X is a mixture of hexane-solubles such as fatty acids and a hexane-insoluble called RBF-H. A synergistic suppressive action on ascites hepatoma of mice is exhibited by the combination of the RBF-H and the fatty acids.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently deodorize a malodor such as the spoilage smell of a stool tank, a barn or a shellfish by containing glyoxal, polyhydric alcohol and alkali in an amount necessary for holding the pH of a system to 7-9. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous glyoxal solution is mixed with a composition containing polyhydric alcohol and alkali and further containing a surfactant, perfume or the like arbitrarily at the time of use and the obtained aqueous composition is finally adjusted to pH7-9. When this composition is preserved for a long period of time, Cannizzaro reaction is gently advanced and the pH of the aqueous solution becomes acidic as a whole and the deodorizing action against hydrogen sulfide disappears but the aqueous solution held to pH7-9 shows deodorizing action against a wide range of a malodor and also shows bacteriostatic action to develop excellent capacity as a bacteriostatic deodorant. The sufficient concn. of glyoxal contained in this aqueous composition is 100ppm or more but content of about 0.01-3wt.% is pref. After this composition is sprayed, a maloder can be reduced to a large extent and working environment can be improved largely.

Abstract: PURPOSE: In a nitrogen atmosphere, an optically active N-acylaminoacid is directly heated to enable racemization in a short time, quantitatively without decomposition of the feedstock and product whereby the titled compound is obtained in high yield without discoloration.
CONSTITUTION: An optically active N-acylaminoacid such as N-acetyl-D- phenylalanine is racemized in a reactor after replacement in the reactor with nitrogen in an amount of more than 10 times the capacity of the reactor or under almost vacuum after replacement with a nitrogen gas by evacuation with an aspirator or vacuum pump, by heating directly the compound at 100W220°C to give the objective N-acyl-DL-aminoacid. The optically active N-acylaminoacid may be either of naturally occurring one, nonnatural one or neutral, acidic or basic N-acyl aminoacid.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to determine the cellulase activity easily with a high sensitivity, by using a microfibrillated cellulose as a substrate for determining the activity.
CONSTITUTION: Pulp fibers are beaten to prepare a microfibrillated cellulose having ≥80% decomposition ratio by cellulase much higher than that of the carboxymethyl cellulose which has been conventionally used. The resultant microfibrillated cellulose is then diluted with a buffer solution to ≤0.25% solid content and kept at a given temperature. A cellulase solution is then added thereto and reacted therewith, and the temperature is then measured after the lapse of a given time by the conventional method to obain the aimed cellulase activity value.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an aqueous bactericidal composition exhibiting a stronger, fast-acting an persistent bactericidal action than the cases of single use, respectively, by adding a quaternary ammonium salt and a chlorine dioxide-generating agent such as a chlorite salt-protonic acid to an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous bactericidal composition contains 20-2000ppm of a compound of the formula (R1 is hydrocarbon in which an O may intervene; R2 and R3 are 1-5C alkyl; R4 is 1-18C straight chain or branched alkyl or aralkyl; X is halogen ion or mineral acid ion) and a chlorine dioxide-generating agent (the concentration of the generated chlorine dioxide is 1-100ppm). The chlorine dioxide-generating agent is preferably a combination of a chlorite salt (preferably Na salt) and a protonic acid (preferably hydrochloric acid, dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid or a mixture thereof). The composition is safe for men and livestock because of having a sufficient activity at a low concentration and is convenient also at the points of workability, handling, etc., because the sterilization, disinfection and washing works of livestock barns can be performed only with the one pack solution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a funeral use antiseptic deodorant facilitated in its handling with no hazard enabling chlorine dioxide gas to effectively display its effect by sealing a granular mixture, consisting of sodium chlorite, solid acid in a dry condition and inactive diluent in a dry condition, in a gas permeable bag unit. CONSTITUTION:A funeral use antiseptic deodorant seals a granular mixture, consisting of sodium chorite, solid acid in a dry condition and inactive diluent in a dry condition, in a gas permeable bag unit. The solid acid in use comes into contact with the sodium chlorite, generating chorine dioxide gas. The solid acid is used in the dry condition, and the solid acid, when it is placed in a wet condition, generates the chlorine dioxide gas in a short time, being not preferable. As the solid acid, weak acid of citric acid, adipic acid, oxalic acid, etc., is preferable. The diluent is for relaxing reaction between the sodium chlorite and the solid acid, having inactivity, and a dry condition is good. The granular mixture forms its composition proportion with 5-20% sodium chlorite, 5-20% solid acid and the rest of inactive diluent. While a grain size of respective granule is preferable about 200-1,000 microns.
