Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst carrier capable of holding high catalytic activity for a long period of time. SOLUTION: A catalyst carrier is constituted of a polymer having a structural unit represented by formula (wherein n is a positive integer and a quinoline ring may have a substituent other than a substituent shown in the formula). A metal complex catalyst having long catalytic life and excellent in heat resistance is obtained by coordinating a metal compd., for example, cuppric chloride with the pyridyl site of the catalyst carrier.
