Abstract: Provided is a particle immobilizing substrate that can be fabricated easily and in which inorganic nanoparticles are present in a nanometer-scale region. Also provided is a method capable of easily producing a substrate in which nanoparticles are arranged in a nanometer-scale region on a solid surface. The particle immobilizing substrate 1 comprises a substrate 2 and a plurality of inorganic nanoparticles 3 arranged on the substrate 2. The plurality of nanoparticles 3 are arranged in contact with each other within a region having a width (D1) of 1 μm or less on the substrate 2.
