Abstract: One exemplary embodiment of this disclosure relates to a refrigerant compressor for use in a chiller system. The compressor includes an electric motor arranged upstream of a stage of a compressor in the main refrigerant flow path. This disclosure also relates to an axial flow compressor of a relatively high capacity, and a recirculation feature for the same.
