    Abstract: An app for testing the presence or not of a direct current magnetic field generated by an electronic or electrotechnical device under test is disclosed. Service technicians increasingly use smartphones as aide in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting and the indication of the existence of a magnetic field or not is a helpful information to the service technician. Using a sensor in the smartphone the measurement of weak magnetic fields generated by direct current devices has proved problematic. A solution to this problem is that a direct current magnetic field detection limit (DC Iim ) is set in the app, and that the presence of a magnetic field potentially generated by said device is only indicated on the smartphone screen if the measured direct current magnetic field (DC meas ) is larger than the set magnetic field detection limit (DC Iim ). The invention further concerns a method for calibrating an app for the measurement of weak direct current generated magnetic fields.
