Abstract: A defrost check valve (2) is described comprising an inlet (3), an outlet (4), a valve seat element (5) forming a valve seat (6) and surrounding a channel (11) connected to the inlet (3), a valve element (7) moveable in a moving direction (16), and a closing spring (8) acting on the valve element (7) in a direction towards the valve seat element (5), wherein the valve element (7) comprises a first pressure area (12) which in a closed condition of the valve is limited by the valve seat (6). Such a defrost check valve (2) should have a higher differential pressure for opening and it must open for almost full flow at a slightly higher pressure difference. To this end a pressure chamber (15) is formed between the valve element (7) and the valve seat element (5) outside the first pressure area (12) and the valve element comprises a second pressure area (20) in the pressure chamber.
