Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the conversion of carbon monoxide in a hydrogen-containing gas mixture which has a high specific conversion ratio of carbon monoxide with a good selectivity under the moving use condition of automobiles that an output requirement changes rapidly, has a high temperature-stability, and has no sensitivity to the oxygen in the educt gas mixture. SOLUTION: The subject process comprises a catalytic conversion of carbon monoxide is catalytically converted into carbon dioxide and water by means of the water in a hydrogen-containing gas mixture by passing through the gas mixture over a shift catalyst at an operating temperature for the purpose of the conversion of carbon monoxide. In this case, the shift catalyst is at least one noble metal applied on an inactive support element in the shape of a covered material.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high selectivity and a specific hydrogen productivity in a reforming reaction of alcohol with steam by depositing a catalytically active component on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite, and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. SOLUTION: A catalytically active component is deposited on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. This catalyst contains a 0.5-10 mass % palladium/zinc alloy and 1-50 mass % zinc oxide to the total mass of the catalyst respectively. When methanol is reformed with steam, this catalyst can provide >20 Nm3/kg.h hydrogen producing capacity at 300 deg.C reactor temperature. And the carrying material used is aluminum oxide having >10 m2/g BET specific surface area.

Abstract: In converting carbon monoxide (CO) in a gas mixture containing hydrogen (H2) and other oxidizable constituents with water to carbon dioxide (CO2) and H2 (CO conversion) by passing the mixture over a shift catalyst at the CO conversion temperature, an oxidation-active shift catalyst based on noble metals is used and the operating temperature is adjusted and optionally maintained by partial oxidation of the oxidizable constituents of the gas mixture. An Independent claim is also included for a catalyst for this process, which comprises platinum and/or palladium, iron or copper and cerium oxide on a finely-divided alumina, in the form of a coating on a monolithic ceramic or metal honeycomb, open-cell ceramic or metal foam molding, metal sheet, heat exchanger plates or irregular molding.

An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of an alloyed catalyst comprising dipsersing zinc oxide, titanium oxide and/or zeolites in water, adding an acidic solution of a palladium compound to the basic dispersion formed, neutralizing with a base, reducing using an aqueous reductant, filtering, washing, drying, calcining at 300-550 degrees C in an oxidizing atmosphere and reducing at 350-500 degrees C in a hydrogen-containing gas.
