Abstract: Fully fibrous, virtually powder-free polyoxymethylene, suitable as filler or thickener for synthetic or natural resins, paints, textiles, filter media, etc. or as insulating material (electrical, sound possibly in conjunction with other fillers) is obtained by polymerising finely divided (0.01-3 mm) crystalline trioxane in the presence of 0.01-1% of (pref. powdered) AlCl3 or TiCl4 for about 4 hr. at 50-80 degrees and purifying the product by washing with water or alcohols.
