Abstract: There are disclosed precipitated silicas which are characterized by the following physical-chemical data: -A B C -BET-surface area m2/g 400-600 400-600 400-600 -according to DIN 66131 -DBP-Number % 340-380 320-360 310-360 -Bulk density according g/l 180-220 75-120 35-70 -to DIN 53194 -"ALPINE-Sieve Wt. % 25-60 63 m mu - Depending on the particle distribution curve, these precipitated silicas can be employed as silica carriers for active materials of all types, as antiblocking agents for polypropylene and polyethylene films, as thickening silica in specific polar systems in which pyrogenic silicas show little thickening capacity, as highly active matting agents for varnishes and as catalyst carriers as well as insulating materials. The precipitated silicas are produced by establishing a silica final concentration of 46 grams/l in a receiver having water present heated to a temperature of 40 DEG -42 DEG C. while holding the pH constant in the range of 6-7 by simultaneously running in a water glass solution and sulfuric acid while maintaining shearing with an Ekato Turbine over the entire precipitation time, interrupting the precipitation for 90 minutes from the 13th to 103rd minute according to a total precipitation of 146 minutes, aging the suspension of precipitated silica for 12-17 hours, separating the precipitated silica from the suspension with the help of a filter press, washing, liquifying the filter cake with water and/or acid to a suspension having 10-16 weight % solids, finally spray drying and either not grinding or grinding with a cross flow mill or jet mill.

Abstract: PRECIPITATED SILICA WHICH HAS A BET SURFACE AREA OF 10-130 M2/G, A CTAB SURFACE AREA 10-70 M2/G, AN AVERAGE PARTICLE DIAMETER OF 5-20 UM, A CU ABRASION VALUE IN A 10 0LYCEROL DISPERSION OF 4-50 MG AND THICKENING BEHAVIOUR IN A CMC SOLUTION (20DISPERSION) OF 300 - 350 MPA. S, IS PRODUCED BY SIMULTANEOUSLY ADDING ALKALI SILICATE (WEIGHT MODULUS SIO2:ALKALI OXIDE = 2.5 -3.9 :1) AND A MINERAL ACID TO AN INITIAL AMOUNT OF WATER WHICH HAS BEEN ADJUSTED TO A PH VALUE OF 7.0TO 9.9 OR 10.0 TO 10.7 BY THE ADDITION OF WATER OF WATER GLASS, HOLDING THE PH VALUE CONSTANT BETWEEN 7.0 AND 9.9 OR 10.0 TO 10.7 DURING ADDITION, WHEREIN ADDITION, WHEREIN THE INITIAL PRECIPITATION TEMPERATURE IS 50-90?C AND AN INCREASE INVISCOSITY OCCURS AFTER AT MOST 25OF THE DURATION OF PRECIPITATION, ADJUSTING THE PH VALUE TO 160 G/L TO 240G/L, HAS BEEN REACHED, SEPARATING THE SOLID BY FILTRATION,. WASHING, DRYING, DRYING AND GRINDING IT.@@THE PRECIPITATED SILICA MAY BE USED AS AN ABRASIVE AND/OR THICKENING COMPONENT IN TOOTHPASTES.

Abstract: Precipitated silica having a BET surface area of 10-130 m /g, a CTAB surface area of 10-70 m /g, a mean particle diameter of 5-20 mu m, a Cu abrasion in 10% strength glycerol (glycerine) dispersion of 4-50 mg and a thickening behaviour in CMC solution (20% strength dispersion) of 300-3500 mPa.s is prepared by simultaneously adding alkali metal silicate (weight ratio SiO2: alkali metal oxide = 2.5-3.9:1) and a mineral acid to an initial charge of water which has been adjusted to a pH of from 7.0 to 9.9 or from 10.0 to 10.7 by addition of water, keeping the pH constant between 7.0 and 9.9 or 10.0 and 10.7, with the initial precipitation temperature being 50-90 DEG C and a viscosity increase commencing at the latest after 25% of the precipitation time, setting the pH to /= 160 g/l to 240 g/l, separating off the solid by filtration and washing, drying and milling it. The precipitated silica can be used as abrasive and/or thickening component in toothpastes.
