    Abstract: 1502343 Deglucohellebrin derivatives DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 3 April 1975 [3 April 1974] 13645/75 Heading C2U The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R 1 is C 2-8 alkenyl, C 2-8 alkynyl, C 1-8 alkyl substituted by a group selected from hydroxy, oxo, amino, mono- or di-(C 1-6 alkyl)- amino, C 1-6 alkoxy, carboxy and C 2-6 -(alkoxycarbonyl), or is a phenyl, benzyl, phenylethyl, phenylvinyl or phenylethynyl group optionally ar-substituted by one or more groups selected from hydroxy, amino, mono- or di-(C 1-6 alkyl)- amino, nitro, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy and halo; R 2 is H, C 1-8 alkyl, C 1-8 haloalkyl or a group selected from those defined for R 1 (with the exception of oxoalkyl, carboxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, phenylvinyl, phenylethynyl, arsubstituted phenylvinyl and ar-substituted phenylethynyl); the radicals R 1 and R 2 being spatially interchangeable; R 3 is H, C 1-6 aliphatic acyl, benzoyl, C 1-6 alkyl, (C 1-6 alkoxy)- (C 1-6 alkyl) or C 2-7 -(alkoxycarbonyl); and R 4 is CHO or CH 2 OH; and salts thereof. Preparation of the above compounds is from the corresponding 2 1 ,3 1 -diols by reaction with R 1 R 2 CO or a dialkyl acetal thereof, optionally followed by conventional conversion of R 3 =H into R 3 =other than H, and/or reduction of R 4 =CHO to R 4 =CH 2 OH, and/or salification. When the carbon atom between R 1 and R 2 in the product is asymmetric, the resultant isomer mixture may be resolved chromatographically. Cardiotonic compositions for oral, parenteral or rectal administration comprise a compound I and a carrier.

    Abstract: In isopropanol-contg. chamomile extracts consisting of mixtures of isopropanol with water, ethanol, 1-propanol, 1,2-propanediol and/or 1,3-butanediol or with conventional ointment bases, the irritating odour due to the isopropanol is masked by the addition of an odorant selected from coumarin and its derivs. plant extracts with coumarin-type odours; 6-12C aliphatic aldehydes or ketones; 6-12C aliphatic or alicyclic alcohols; C10 terpene alcohols; sesquiterpene alcohols; esters of 1-25 C aliphatic acids with the aforementioned alcohols; esters of benzenic aromatic acids with 1-6C aliphatic alcohols, benzyl alcohol or the aforementioned terpene alcohols; essential oils from rutaceous species or their odoriferous components, synthetic bergamot oils; and other essential oils contg. at least one of the aforementioned odorants.
