SOLUTION: This ink jet ink comprises at least one kind of pigment and at least one kind of compound having ≥50 nm average particle size and selected from a group consisting of silicic acid obtained by pyrolysis method, silicic acid obtained by hydrophobic pyrolysis method, compound oxide obtained by pyrolysis method and aluminum oxide obtained by pyrolysis method. This method for producing the ink jet ink comprises mixing at least one kind of pigment dispersed in water with a compound having ≥50 nm average particle size and selected from a group consisting of silicic acid obtained by pyrolysis method, silicic acid obtained by hydrophobic pyrolysis method, compound oxide obtained by pyrolysis method and aluminum oxide obtained by pyrolysis method. SOLUTION: The gas black suspension is aqueous, colloidal, freeze-resistant and storage-stable and is composed of 2-30 mass%, favorably 10-25 mass%, of a gas black, 0-40 mass%, favorably 0-30 mass%, of a carbon black, a dispersion-supportive additive, a biocide and water. The suspension has a zeta potential below -10 mV, favorably -25 mV, a surface tension above 50 mN/m, favorably above 60 mN/m, and an average particle size below 200 nm, favorably below 100 nm.
