Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyrolytically prepared titanium dioxide which gives better transparency and feeling on a skin for use in a sunscreen agent. SOLUTION: There are provided titanium dioxide and titanium dioxide-containing mixed oxide which are pyrolytically prepared, surface-modified and structurally modified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium dioxide produced by thermal decomposition which exhibits satisfactory transparency and does not cause an unpleasant and dull feeling on a skin when used as a tanning preventive agent, and to provide a formulation for a tanning preventive agent using the same. SOLUTION: The titanium dioxide is surface-modified and covered with the silicon dioxide, is produced by the thermal decomposition, and especially, is produced by flame hydrolysis. The titanium dioxide and the formulation for a tanning preventive agent using the same is obtained by spraying a surface-treating agent onto the titanium dioxide covered with silicon dioxide, followed by treating the resultant product at a certain temperature. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-titanium mixed dioxide which is produced by pyrolysis and does not exhibit drawbacks of prior art. SOLUTION: There is provided a surface-modified silicon-titanium mixed dioxide produced by pyrolysis. The method of producing the mixed dioxide comprises: spraying water on the silicon-titanium mixed dioxide produced by pyrolysis in a mixer as needed; spraying a surface-modifying agent; mixing as needed; and then temperature-treating the obtained mixture. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a following problem: a remarkably defected coated face (orange-peel skin) is obtained, when using a well-known silica, because rheology of a coating system is affected largely irrespective of using a special dispersion device.SOLUTION: The coating composition contains 5-99.5 mass% of solid of a polymer component, or a mixture comprising two or more physically or chemically crosslinked polymer components, (coupling agent component and curing agent component), 0-80 mass% of low-molecular weight component acting as a solvent, or mixture of such a low-molecular weight components, 0.5-50 mass% of silanized, structurally modified thermally decomposed silica to the surface of which there are attached an alkyl silyl group (SiCH1, where n is 2-18), and/or dimethyl silyl group, and/or monomethyl silyl group, and silanated to be modified structurally, and 0-10 mass% of commercially available additives.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel granule based on aluminum oxide and a method for producing the granule.SOLUTION: Granules based on aluminum oxide have the following characteristics an average particle size of 5.0 to 150 μm and a tap density of 300 to 1,200 g/l. The granules are produced by dispersing aluminum oxide in water, performing spray drying, optionally heat treatment and/or silanization. In silanized form, the granules have the following characteristics an average particle size of 5 to 160 μm and a tap density of 300 to 1,200 g/l and a carbon content of 0.3 to 12.0 mass%. The granules are used inter alia as catalyst supports, in cosmetics, in toner powders, in paints and lacquers, as abrasives and polishing agents and as a raw material in the production of glass and ceramics.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-modified indium-tin oxide which can be used for producing a coating system excellent in IR protection and is excellent in distinguished transparency.SOLUTION: The surface-modified indium-tin oxide is produced by mixing the oxide with a surface-modifying agent in a liquid or vapor form and heat treating the mixture. It can be used to produce a coating system.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new fouling-protective additive for a cover system for protecting a body which is contacting or is to contact with water, especially seawater, which does not have the disadvantage of, or has only a little disadvantage of a decreased degree of the additives in conventional techniques. SOLUTION: The fouling-protective additive comprises at least one inorganic and/or organic porous carrier and at least one fouling-protection working substance introduced into the porous carrier, wherein it is confirmed by a test on the outermost atomic layer of the product system by XPS that at least one part on the outermost surface of the product system is formed of the carrier material.
