Plastics material and part of the carbon black may be introduced together at a first inlet, and the distance between inlets may be 2 to 6, preferably 3 to 5 times the diameter of the kneader screw. The process may be used to produce concentrates which may be diluted with further plastics material. Examples describe the preparation of compositions of carbon black with (1 to 4) polyethylene, (2) polypropylene and (3) polystyrene.
