Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparing and delivering system for intravenous drugs which system may return a powder drug to liquid. SOLUTION: The system comprises a liquid inlet 22 for connection to a liquid supply, vials 11a-11c, and a liquid outlet 23 for delivery an intravenous drug in a mixed liquid form to a patient. The system may include a delivery chamber 27, a mixing chamber 28, and valve mechanisms 31a-31i. The valve mechanisms may be actuated to control flow between the liquid outlet 23, the delivery chamber 27, the mixing chamber 28, the vials 11a-11c, and the liquid inlet 22. The system changes volumes of the delivery chamber 27 and the mixing chamber 28 and actuates the valve mechanisms 31a-31i to guide the liquid from the liquid inlet 22 to the vials 11a-11c to liquefy or dilute the drug to deliver the drug to the patient. The liquid inlet 22, the vials 11a-11c, the delivery chamber 27, the mixing chamber 28, the liquid outlet 23, and the valve mechanisms 31a-31i are placed in a disposable cassette storable in a controller. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for the preparation and delivery of intravenous drugs, which reconstitutes a powdered drug to a liquid.SOLUTION: A system includes: a liquid inlet for connection to a liquid supply; a vial 11; and a liquid outlet for providing the intravenous drug in a mixed liquid form to a patient. The system may include a chamber having a variable volume, and a valve mechanism, which may be actuated to control flow between the liquid outlet, the variable-volume chamber, the vial and the liquid inlet. The system induces change in the volume of the variable-volume chamber and actuates the valve mechanism, so as to introduce liquid from the liquid inlet into the vials and reconstitute or dilute the drugs and so as to deliver the drugs to the patient. In a preferred embodiment, the liquid inlet, the vials, the variable-volume chamber, the liquid outlet and the valve mechanism are located in a disposable cassette 17, which may be received in a control unit 15.
