Abstract: An improved release system for heat transferable laminates wherein a transferable substrate which contains a design layer is transferred from a carrier web onto an article such as a plastic bottle or container upon application of heat and pressure. The carrier web includes a nonwax polyethylene layer. The improved release system includes a polyethylene layer portion (5) of the carrier web (2) in contact with and adhered to a nonwax transfer layer portion of the transferable substrate (15). The transferable substrate including the ink design layer transfers to the article upon application of heat to the carrier while the article contacts the laminate. The transferred substrate with design layers on the article is clear and exhibits improved scuff and abrasion resistance.

Abstract: L'invention concerne un système de décollement amélioré pour stratifiés transférables thermiquement, dans lequel on transfère un substrat transférable contenant une couche portant un motif depuis une bande porteuse sur un article tel qu'une bouteille ou un conteneur en plastique par application de chaleur et de pression. La bande porteuse comprend une couche de polyéthylène sans cire. Dans le système de décollement amélioré, une partie recouverte d'une couche de polyéthylène (5) de la bande porteuse (2) est en contact avec une partie recouverte d'une couche de transfert sans cire du substrat transférable (15), à laquelle elle est collée. Le substrat transférable comprenant la couche d'encre portant une représentation effectue le transfert sur l'article par application de chaleur au support, tandis que l'article est en contact avec le stratifié. Le substrat transféré comportant des couches de motifs se trouvant sur l'article est clair et présente une meilleure résistance à l'usure par frottement et à l'abrasion.
