Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst used in manufacturing fuel cells. SOLUTION: The electrode catalyst contains carbon black having a larger H content than 4000 ppm as a carbon carrier and platinum as a catalyst activating component or a platinum doped with two or more sorts of metal or turned into an alloy and is manufactured by precipitating noble metal(s) on the surface of the carbon black.

Abstract: Electrocatalyst which are formed of a carbon support, which is a carbon black with an H content of >4000 ppm and, as the catalytically active component, platinum or bi- or multi-metallically doped or alloyed platinum. The electrocatalysts are prepared by deposition of noble metals on the carbon black surface. They can be used for the production of fuel cells.
