    Abstract: Fluted filter media includes filter material (100) having a plurality of flutes formed therein having alternating ends of adjacent flutes closed (120) to force fluid through filter material. A first embodiment of the filter media includes tapered flutes which have the open ends (122) of the flutes larger in cross-section than the closed flutes (120), wherein the upstream open flutes converge toward the downstream end and the upstream closed end flutes diverge toward the downstream end. A second embodiment includes filter media which is asymmetric formed with dissimilar upstream and downstream flute cross-sections with larger flute openings to the upstream side of the filter. A third embodiment includes filer media with an upstream edge crushed to improve flow at the upstream edge. A fourth embodiment includes filter media with the upstream sealing material recessed from the upstream edge for reducing effects from blockages at the upstream edge of the filter.

    Abstract: An air flow conduit system is presented for air flow communication between an air filter mechanism (111) and an engine intake manifold (112). The conduit system comprises first (115), second (116) and third (117) substantially rigid conduit members. Engagement between conduit members is provided by means of a rib system (137) on a narrow end of a conduit member being received within a broad end (155) of a next adjacent conduit member. Sealing engagement occurs by means of an elastomeric seal member (158) positioned between the ribs and an end of a conduit member within which the ribs are received. A preferred rib arrangement is provided, to insure a flexible, multi-point, seal system.

    Abstract: A clean room ceiling grid system having a detent means for loading filter panels into ceiling grids from a clean room. The system is operable to permit removal of the filter panels by use of a filter panel removing tool. More particularly, this clean room ceiling grid system requires no plenum space use above the grid members for either installation or removal of filter panels. The system also includes means for hermetically sealing the interface of connected ceiling grid members and means for substantially laminar flow of filtered air in clean rooms.

    Abstract: A fluid filtering device in various embodiments is disclosed. The filter includes, in one embodiment, alternating layers (34, 36) of flat and corrugated filter media which are rolled together and sealed at alternate ends by sealant (38, 42). Further embodiments disclose filter packs (112, 212, 312) of alternating layers of flat and corrugated filter media. In one embodiment, corrugations of successive layers are aligned in parallel. In an alternate embodiment corrugations are aligned orthogonally. Unfiltered fluids enter tubular passages (44) for example, and must exit by adjacent passages either above, below or beside the flute of entry to exit the filter. Filtering occurs when the fluid crosses a sidewall of filter media.
