Disclosed herein is A multilayer film comprising a core layer; and two skin layers; wherein the core layer is positioned between the two skin layers; wherein the core layer comprises a polyethylene polymer blend, the polyethylene polymer blend comprising at least 40%, by weight of the polyethylene polymer blend, of an ethylene-based polymer having a density of 0.900-0.940 g/cc and a melt index of 0.7-6 g/10 min, wherein the polyethylene polymer blend has an overall density of about 0.910-0.950 g/cc and a melt index of about 0.7-6 g/ 10 min; and wherein each skin layer independently comprises a propylene-based polymer; and wherein the multilayer film further comprises a filler, the filler being present in one or more layers of the multilayer film.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to nonbreathable extrusion coated nonwoven structures. The structures comprise a nonwoven web comprised of monocomponent or bicomponent fibers having a coating comprising LDPE optionally blended with LLDPE and/or an elastomer. The monocomponent or bicomponent fibers comprise an ethylene based polymer, preferably at the surface of the fiber.

Provided are bicomponent fibers. The bicomponent fiber comprises a first region and a second region. The first region comprises a first ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, and the second region comprises a second ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer. The first ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a highest peak melting temperature (Tm) less than 130˚C and at least 3.5˚C greater than a highest peak melting temperature of the second ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer. The bicomponent fibers can be used for forming nonwovens that in aspect have improved tensile strength, elongation at break, and/or abrasion resistance.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides for a bicomponent fiber that includes a first region formed of a condensation polymer and a second region formed from a polypropylene blend. The polypropylene blend includes (i) a propylene-based polymer having a density of 0.895 g/cm 3 to 0.920 g/cm 3 and a melt index, I 2 , as determined by ASTM D1238 at 230 o C and 2.16 kg of 0.5 to 150 g/10 minutes; (ii) a maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene; and (iii) an inorganic Brønsted-Lowry acid having an acid strength pKa value at 25 o C of 1 to 6.5, wherein the polypropylene blend has a 0.03 to 0.3 weight percent of grafted maleic anhydride based on the total weight of the polypropylene blend. The first region is a core region of the bicomponent fiber and the second region is a sheath region of the bicomponent fiber, where the sheath region surrounds the core region.

The first region comprises a first polyethylene composition and second region comprises a second polyethylene composition, wherein the first polyethylene composition has a crystallization temperature (Tc) greater than a crystallization temperature (Tc) of the second polyethylene composition. The bicomponent fiber can be used to form a nonwoven.

Disclosed herein is a cast film comprising a polyethylene composition comprising the reaction product of ethylene and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers, wherein said polyethylene composition is characterized by the following properties: a melt index, I2, measured according to ASTM D1238 (2.16 kg, 190°C), of from 1 to 20 g/10 min; a density (measured according to ASTM D792) of from 0.935 to 0.970 g/cm3; a melt flow ratio, I 10 /I 2 , wherein I 10 is measured according to ASTM D1238 (10 kg, 190°C) of from 5.5 to 7.0; a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of from 2.2 to 3.5; and a vinyl unsaturation of greater than 0.12 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of the composition.

The first region according to embodiments of the present disclosure comprises an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer and has a light scattering cumulative detector fraction (CDFLS) of greater than 0.1200, wherein the CDFLS is computed by measuring the area fraction of a low angle laser light scattering (LALLS) detector chromatogram greater than, or equal to, 1,000,000 g/mol molecular weight using Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). The second region comprises a polyester. The bicomponent fibers can be used for forming nonwovens.
