Abstract: Un método para producir un polímero basado en etileno multimodal que comprende: hacer pasar monómero de etileno, al menos un comonómero C3-C12, disolvente y, opcionalmente, hidrógeno tanto en un primer reactor de polimerización en disolución como en un segundo reactor de polimerización en disolución, en el que el primer reactor de polimerización en disolución o el segundo reactor de polimerización en disolución reciben tanto un primer catalizador como un segundo catalizador, y en el que se hace pasar un tercer catalizador al otro de los reactores de polimerización en disolución primero o segundo en el que no están presentes los catalizadores primero y segundo; producir el polímero multimodal basado en etileno que tiene un primer componente basado en etileno, un segundo componente basado en etileno y un tercer componente basado en etileno, en el que el primer componente basado en etileno es un producto de reacción polimerizado de monómero de etileno y comonómero C3-C12 catalizado por el primer catalizador, teniendo el primer componente basado en etileno una primera densidad (ρ1); el segundo componente basado en etileno es un producto de reacción polimerizado de monómero de etileno y comonómero C3-C12 catalizado por el segundo catalizador, teniendo el segundo componente basado en etileno una segunda densidad (ρ2); y el tercer componente basado en etileno es un producto de reacción polimerizado de monómero de etileno y comonómero C3-C12 catalizado por el tercer catalizador, teniendo el tercer componente basado en etileno una tercera densidad (ρ3); donde ρ2 y ρ1 tienen diferentes valores.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method for producing a multimodal ethylene-based polymer having a first, second, and third ethylene-based component, wherein the multimodal ethylene based polymer results when ethylene monomer, at least one C3-C12 comonomer, solvent, and optionally hydrogen pass through a first solution, and subsequently, a second solution polymerization reactor. The first solution polymerization reactor or the second solution polymerization reactor receives both a first catalyst and a second catalyst, and a third catalyst passes through either the first or second solution polymerization reactors where the first and second catalysts are not already present. Each ethylene-based component is a polymerized reaction product of ethylene monomer and C3-C12 comonomer catalyzed by one of the three catalysts.
