Abstract: Polyisocyanurate or polyurethane-isocyanurate polymers are made by curing an aromatic polyisocyanate or a mixture of at least one aromatic polyisocyanate and at least one polyol having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of up to 200 in which the isocyanate index is at least 2.00, in the presence of at least one isocyanate trimerization catalyst, to form a polyisocyanurate or polyurethane-isocyanurate polymer having a glass transition temperature of at least 100° C., and then exposing the polyisocyanurate or polyurethane-isocyanurate polymer formed step a) to water under superatmospheric pressure at a temperature of at least 70° C.

Abstract: This invention relates to a polymeric composition suitable for greenhouse film applications, and greenhouse films made therefrom. The polymeric composition suitable for greenhouse film applications according to the present invention comprises a) 50 to 99 percent by weight of a continuous polymeric phase comprising a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyolefin, a polyolefin copolymer, an ethylene propylene copolymer with an acrylic ester, an ethylene or propylene copolymer with a vinyl acetate, and combinations thereof; and b) 1 to 50 percent by weight of polymeric particles having an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 10 μm; a refractive index from 1.474 to 1.545; an average particle hardness from 1.2367E+10 N/m2 to 8.4617E+10 N/m2; and at least 60% polymerized acrylic monomer units.

Abstract: A method for exposing a substrate to water under superatmospheric pressure at a temperature of at least 70° C. includes (a) applying a reaction mixture to a substrate, which reaction mixture has an isocyanate index of at least 10 and includes an aromatic polyisocyanate component, a polyol component having a polyol with a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 500, and a catalyst component having an isocyanate trimerization catalyst, and at least partially curing the reaction mixture to form a polyisocyanurate or polyurethane-isocyanurate polymer having a glass transition temperature of at least 80° C., and (b) exposing the substrate and the polyisocyanurate or polyurethane-isocyanurate polymer to water under superatmospheric pressure at a temperature of at least 70° C.

Abstract: A copolymer of ethylene and hydrolysable silane includes from 0.1 wt % to 5.0 wt % hydrolysable silane groups and has a Mz(abs)/Mw(abs) of less than or equal to 9.5; a ratio of Mz(abs)/Mw(abs) to polydispersity of less than or equal to 1.5; a polydispersity of 6.6 or greater; a Density×Polydispersity of 6.0 or greater; or an Amorphous Content at Room Temperature×Polydispersity of 360 or greater. Methods for forming a moisture-crosslinkable polymer composition include forming a copolymer of ethylene and hydrolysable silane at a polymerization temperature of greater than or equal to 180° C. to less than or equal to 400° C. at a pressure from 5,000 psi to 50,000 psi; and adding a silanol condensation catalyst to the copolymer of ethylene and hydrolysable silane.
