Abstract:
The invention is a cleaning composition in the form of a microemulsion comprising a self-foaming agent in an effective amount to form a foam after the composition is dispensed on a surface, at least one cosurfactant, at least one surfactant, and the balance water, wherein the composition is a stable, self-foaming microemulsion having a sub-atmospheric vapor pressure at 22 DEG C and capable of being dispensed as a liquid from a non-pressurized package.
Abstract:
A freezer storage bag comprising a multibag of at least two bags, the first bag being the inner most (food-contacting) bag ("linerbag") (11), the second bag ("support bag") (12) surrounding the liner (11) and being connected to the liner (11) at the liner's mouth (55), characterized in that the liner (11) is thermoplastic and has a thickness (t) of less than 2.0 mil (50 micrometers). Preferably, the liner's mouth (55) is sealed via a blanket seal to the support's throat. Preferably, the liner is embossed film. In contrast to existing freezer bags, the improved bag has a very pliable liner (11) that conforms to moist food and reduces freezer burn during storage of repackaged red meat. Various related aspects of the invention are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A reseable flexible thermoplastic bag including a front wall (21) and a back wall (22), said walls being joined along the major portions of their opposite longitudinal edges and bottom; an open mouth adjacent to the top edge of said bag; a closure near the open mouth of said bag including an adhesive strip (30) affixed to a first inner surface of one of a front wall or rear wall of a bag at a preselected distance from the opening of the bag; and a flap member strip (40) affixed to a second inner surface of one of a front wall or rear wall of a bag at a preselected distance from the opening of the bag; said flap member of said bag being pressable against and into said adhesive strip on said first inner surface, whereby a seal is formed by contacting said adhesive strip with said flap member of said second inner surface.
Abstract:
A beverage maker (10) having a reservoir (14) for holding liquid and a filter element (16) for holding a substance, such as coffee grounds, for making the beverage. A partition (20) separates the reservoir (14) anf filter element (16) and has a heat responsive film (38). When the liquid in the reservoir (14) is at or reaches a desired brewing temperature (e.g. 50° to 95 °C), the film (38) opens to allow the flow of the heated liquid from the reservoir (14) into and through the filter element (16) and substance, such as coffee grounds, to produce a freshly brewed beverage, ready for dispensing.
Abstract:
Free edge-sealed film articles (10) and a process for making such articles, wherein the articles comprise a plurality of film portions (12 and 14) and contain a free edge-seal between two of such portions (12 and 14) with one or both of the two free edge-sealed portions (12 and 14) consisting of a plurality of layers (18 and 20) of diverse thermoplastic materials which are so ordered that on sealing the two portions (12 and 14) together, the layered film portion (12) is curled toward the other of the two free edge-sealed portions (14).
Abstract:
A reclosable fastener assembly comprising two profile strips with interlocking hooks, with a pair of handles positioned along the length of the outer surface of the second fastener strip, the handles adapted to cooperate with the second profile, such that when the handles are squeezed together, the hooks of the second profile disengage with the hooks of the first profile to open the fastener assembly. A slider moves along the fastening strips in straddling relation, the slider including means for squeezing the handles together as the slider moves toward the open position so that the profiles disengage. The profiles reengage when the slider moves in the reverse direction. Also disclosed are the slider and the closure.
Abstract:
A reclosable fastener assembly having two interlocking profiles with uppermost closure elements and bottommost closure elements and a slider for moving between a closed position and an open position along the profiles in straddling relation. The slider has a top and side walls depending from opposite sides of the top for receiving the profiles therebetween. The side walls extend downward from the top to a point at or below the profiles, and the side walls extend from a separating end of the slider to a pinching end. The side walls have a greater spacing at the separating end than at the pinching end, but close enough at the pinching end to press the first and second profiles into an interlocked relationship as the slider is moved toward the closed position. The slider has a separating leg depending from the top between the first and second side walls at the separating end of the slider. The separating leg is inserted past at least one of the uppermost closure elements of the profiles, but not between the bottommost closure elements. In a second aspect, the fastener assembly includes means for holding the bottommost closure elements in interlocked relationship when the slider is in the closed position, such that the bottommost closure elements are in interlocked relationship throughout their entire length.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a self-foaming, self-leveling aqueous liquid composition packageable in a non-pressurized deformable dispenser of flexible barrier material adapted to contain, maintain and dispense a proportioned amount of the cleansing composition under positive pressure. The composition comprises: a major amount of water; a surfactant; and a dual purpose pressure agent comprising at least one aliphatic hydrocarbon fluid in amounts sufficient to provide the liquid composition, which when contained in a dispenser exerts a positive vapor pressure at least at about 1.6 C. The composition is dispensed as a liquid under normal operating conditions, which liquid foams instantaneously and spontaneously on spreading.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for manufacturing a composite film comprised of a matrix material (11) and of a second material in the form of one or more strips (13) of the second material which are embedded in the matrix material (11) at one or both surfaces of the composite film.
Abstract:
Disclosed are specific biaxially oriented, coextruded multilayer barrier films (10) having a normalized permeability of less than 1.5 x 10-13cc-cm/sq.cm-cm Hg-sec. The preferred barrier layer (20) of the films (10) comprises a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and an alkyl acrylate. Also disclosed are specific draw-tentering processes for preparing the barrier films (10) without destroying the barrier properties relative to the precursor undrawn film.
