Abstract:
The invention relates to a process to prepare a condensation polymer containing ester groups and at least one amide group in the backbone, having at least one β-alkyl-substituted β-hydroxyalkylamide end group, and having a hydroxy alkylamide functionality between 2 and 250 and having a weight average molecular mass of ≥ 800 g/mol. A polyvalent carboxylic acid reacts with an alkanolamine to form a hydroxy-alkylamide after which a polyesteramide is obtained through polycondensation. The obtained polymers can, for example, be used in thermosetting powder paint compositions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for hotmelt application of a thermosetting formulation, which comprises a binder composition containing a resin and a crosslinker that form volatile compounds upon reaction with each other whereby the thermosetting formulation is converted into a hotmelt and stored in a hotmelt unit, wherein the release of a substantial amount of volatile component from the hotmelt unit is prevented during the storage of the hotmelt in the hotmelt unit. The invention also relates to the use in a hotmelt of a binder composition comprising a resin and a crosslinker, that form volatile components upon reaction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for enhancing the solubility of a colorant. According to this method, a colorant is contacted with a branched polyesteramide. The method results in a dye, which is more soluble than the original colorant or in a dye which is soluble in more solvents than the solvents in which the original colorant could be dissolved or in a dye originating from a colorant which was not soluble at all. The invention also relates to a dye comprising a colorant and a branched polyesteramide, a composition comprising the dye, use of the dye as a fugitive dye and an object marked with the dye.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method to produce a modified hyperbranched polyesteramide, containing at least two β-hydroxylamide ester groups and optionally also an hydroxyalkylamide endgroup, wherein
(a) a hydroxy-, or aminefunctional monomer, oligomer or polymer is contacted with a first molar excess of a cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride, forming a mixture of an acid functional ester, respectively an acid functional amide and a cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride; (b) the mixture is contacted with an amount of alkanediolamine, wherein the amount is a second molar excess with respect to the first molar excess.
The invention further relates to a modified hyperbranched polyesteramide containing at least two β-hydroxylamide ester groups and optionally also an hydroxyalkylamide endgroup with a degree of polymerisation of more than 19, as well as the use of these polyesteramides as rheology modifier in gas-oil or in diesel.
