Abstract:
A method of quantifying the extension of a colour-altered skin or nail area, in particular a diseased nail area, includes the steps of: acquiring an image (1b) of the colour-altered area (3) and a normal adjacent area (4); selecting one of the areas (3, 4) as a work area (15); selecting a number of sample points (17) in the work area (15), and determining the colourimetric coordinates of the sample points (17); plotting the colourimetric coordinates of the sample points (17) in a colourimetric space, and defining, in the colourimetric space, a colour region (20) including the sample points (17) and representing all the points in the work area (15); calculating how many points in the image (1b) fall within the colour region (20) to obtain a value indicating the extension of the work area (15).
Abstract:
A device (1) for determining a personalized sun exposure program has a portable casing (2) housing a processing unit (4) associated with a memory (5); the processing unit (4) is connected to a data-entry keyboard (9), to sun sensors (12), and to a light source (15) associated with a photometric detector (16) for measuring the light emitted by the light source (15) and reflected by a user's skin surface; the processing unit (4) calculates an intensity value (I), representing local sun conditions, on the basis of the measurement supplied by the sensors (12), and calculates a reflection value (R D ), representing the user's phototype and skin condition, on the basis of the measurement supplied by the detector (16); the processing unit then supplies a personalized sun exposure program as a function of the reflection value (R D ) and the intensity value (I); and the program indicates one or more exposure periods and, for each period, the time of day, the exposure time, and the sun protection factor to be used in that period.
Abstract:
A device (1) for treating drinking water to produce water for topical detergent, cosmetic and/or therapeutic use has a hydraulic circuit (3) in which flows a water stream (4) drawn from a drinking water mains (8); and treatment units (16) are arranged along the circuit to alter the chemical-physical properties, in particular the pH, hardness, and chlorine content, of the water stream.
