Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system of controlling up-shift operation of an improved mechanical automatic transmission for a vehicle. SOLUTION: By sensing a vehicle operation state representing the change of a vehicle load, a control parameter valve (GCWCP) representing gross combination vehicle weight is reset to form a filter value and an average value, and a given default value is decided. In a such a system and a method, a mechanical automatic transmission for a vehicle is controlled as a function of a control parameter value. A default value is comparatively higher compared with an estimated range of actual gross combination vehicle weight. A multistage skip up-shift having an inter-stage ratio of 50% or more is prohibited until a control parameter value is changed after resetting.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To null the drive line torque of a vehicular mechanical transmission which is at least partially automatic at its initial operation. SOLUTION: An engine 102 is connected through a master clutch 104 to an output shaft 18 of a transmission 12. A system controller 146 controls actuators 56, 116 and 112 on the basis of the output shaft speed 0S of the transmission 12 and the throttle opening angle THL of the engine 102 to thereby automatically shift the transmission 12. When gears being engaged is to be disengaged for changing the gear ratio or the throttle reverts to its home position, the supply of fuel to the engine 102 is controlled to null the gross engine torque on the basis of the base engine friction torque, the accessory torque, and the engine acceleration torque to thereby null the drive line torque or flywheel torque.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with manual splitter shift selection and master clutch operation so as to improve operability by constituting in such a way as to make forward main part gear ratio shift manually executable and to automatically perform dynamic forward splitter individual shift corresponding to each forward main part gear ratio. SOLUTION: In a duplex transmission with an auxiliary shift part 14 connected to a main shift part 12, the main shift part 12 is provided with an input shaft 18 connected to and cut off from an engine 102 by a master clutch 104. A change gear ratio obtained in the main shift part 12 is manually selected by positioning a shift lever 57 along a prescribed shift pattern. A command output signal 150 is outputted to a splitter part actuator 116, an engine controller 112 and a display device 124 by processing according to a specified logical rule by a control device 146 inputting detection signals of sensors 186, 108, 110 for sensing engine speed and rotating speed of the input shaft and an output shaft.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically command best skip up shift and single step up shift by setting an up shift practicable rule deciding whether the required up shift is practicable or not under the condition of maximum allowable shift time for completing the up shift and of the present vehicle operation. SOLUTION: At being required for up shift from the present connected gear ratio GR, the engine speed ES is compared with up shift engine speed ESU/S, in the case of ES>ESU/S, the up shift from the present connected gear ratio GR to multiple step skip up shift GR+3 is practicable, and when completion is possible in the maximum time, the up shift to GR+3 as the best up shift target gear ratio is begun. In the case of impracticable shift, by evaluation of single step skip up shift GR+2, the GR+2 becomes practicable, and when completion is possible in the maximum time, the up shift to GR+2 is executed to begin as the best up shift target gear ratio.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for shortening time necessary for completing the changing of a gear ratio in a transmission. SOLUTION: To shorten the time of changing a gear ratio, a power transmission system has reduction gears 32 and 38 to be independently controlled, at least one in each of engine and transmission sides, and selectively operates to increase the reduction rate of an engine speed and/or a transmission input shaft speed during upshifting. The engine side reduction gear includes an engine brake, and increases an engine load by operating various engine accessories for increasing an engine load. The transmission side reduction gear includes an input shaft brake or a drive line retarder.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiautomatic shift executing device for a relatively simple and low cost duplex transmission. SOLUTION: A semiautomatic shift executing device 100 for a manual shift type transmission 10 is formed such that a means is provided to have a gear ratio in which selective coupling and separation by a jaw clutch selectively positioned by a shift lever 57, and sense a state representing the will of a driver to intend to effect neutral shift of a transmission and automatically feed fuel to an engine so that transmission of torque between an input shaft and an output shaft is suppressed to a minimum limit when a state to represent the will of the driver intending to effect neutral shift is sensed. This constitution senses the neutral state and the target gear ratio of the transmission and causes an engine 102 to automatically reach a synchronous speed to be coupled to a target gear ratio.
