Abstract: The present invention provides a screw compressor having a wide operating range with respect to flow rate and pressure ratio, wherein a discharge opening portion (9) of a casing (7) is provided with a generally taperingly-cut notch portion (8) so that compressed gas is gradually discharged from a certain fixed point where a volume ratio of one groove defined by rotors (6, 6') and the casing (7) is smaller than an inherent built-in volume ratio. Since the present invention is arranged in the above-mentioned manner, rapid flow of the gas at the discharge opening portion is reduced by means of the notch portion (8) of the discharge opening portion (9) which is readily formed, whereby the variation range of the pressure (the amplitude of pulsation of the pressure) is decreased and the noise level is lowered. Further, a loss of pressure resulting from the rapid flow of the gas is restricted to thereby widen a range of preferable performance of the compressor.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To smoothly start and stop a bearing by superposing a piezoelectric element on a fixed side bearing member, applying high frequency voltage to the piezoelectric element to oscillate it, and thereby reducing frictional resistance at the time of starting and stopping. CONSTITUTION:High-frequency oscillations are applied to a stator 2 by exerting ac voltage on a piezoelectric element 6 arranged on a lower part of the stator 2. This high-frequency oscillations are applied only at the time of starting and stopping of a motor 5. In case that the oscillations are performed with a resonance frequency of a stator side bearing plate 4a, the oscillations have a plurality of nodes and loops. The stator side bearing plate 4a is in contact to a rotor side bearing plate 4b at the loops of the oscillations. As for the rotor 1, it nearly stops at a maximum portion of oscillation amplitude by inertia. Since the oscillation has high frequency, the bearing plate 4a is in contact to the bearing plate 4b instantaneously. Air film by squeezing effect may be formed. The bearing plate 4a is hardly in contact to the bearing plate 4b, so that the frictional resistance is remarkably reduced.
