Device (10) for supporting and fixing shelves (2) of furniture items (1), such as bookcases, shelf units and the like, comprising a casing (11) of substantially cylindrical shape with an inner cavity (15), inside whereof a pin (12) is mounted that is stressed by an elastic element (13), said device (10) being configured to be inserted in the edge of a shelf (2), with a tip (16) of the pin (12) normally protruding from the edge of the shelf to be inserted in a hole (5) of a side (3) of the furniture item, and designed to recede into the casing (11) when on the tip (16) a force is exerted in contrast to the action of the elastic element (13), wherein said inner cavity (15) of the casing (11) has at least partially an oblong shape and has on its opposing walls longitudinal recesses (30) designed to accommodate corresponding raised parts (20) provided on the pin (20), in such a way that the pin is restrained locked in the casing (11) with the tip (16) projecting therefrom, pushed by the elastic element (13), and can re-enter the casing with a tilting action in the oblong direction of said cavity (15).
