    Abstract: A compressor may include a shell, a compression mechanism supported within the shell, a drive shaft engaged with the compression mechanism and a motor. The drive shaft may define first and second passages extending axially within the drive shaft and a third passage extending radially through an outer circumferential surface of the drive shaft and in communication with the second passage. The drive shaft may define an axially extending wall separating the first and second passages. The motor may include a rotor fixed to the drive shaft and a stator supported within the shell. The third passage may be adapted to provide oil to the stator during compressor operation to cool the stator.

    Abstract: A compressor may include a housing, first and second scroll members, and a compressor output adjustment assembly. The first scroll member may define a first chamber having first and second passages in communication therewith, a second chamber having third and fourth passages in communication therewith, and first and second apertures. The first and third passages may be in communication with a first pressure source and the second and fourth passages may be selectively in communication with a second pressure source. The compressor output adjustment assembly may include a first piston located in the first chamber and displaceable between first and second positions and a second piston located in the second chamber and displaceable between first and second positions. The first piston may isolate the first aperture from the first passage and the second piston may isolate the second aperture from the third passage when in their respective second positions.

The incorporation of more than one built-in volume ratio allows a single compressor to be optimized for more than one operating condition. The operating envelope for the compressor will determine which of the various built-in volume ratios is going to be selected. Each volume ratio includes a discharge passage extending between one of the pockets of the scroll machine and the discharge chamber.     Abstract: A compressor includes orbiting and non-orbiting scrolls forming first and second fluid pockets therebetween. First and second ports are disposed in the non-orbiting scroll and radially spaced apart from each other. The first port communicates with the first pocket at a first radial position and the second port communicates with the second pocket at a second radial position. A blocking device is movable between a first position preventing communication between the ports and a fluid source and a second position allowing communication between the ports and the fluid source. The first and second pockets have first and second pressures, respectively. One of the pressures may have a disproportionate pressure change compared to the other of the pressures after at least one of the pockets communicates with the fluid source through at least one of the ports. The disproportionate pressure change biases the orbiting scroll relative to the non-orbiting scroll.
