Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical rivet setting tool with a simpler construction used with double headed rivets. SOLUTION: A rivet setting tool used with double headed blind rivets comprises a collet assembly 17 adapted to engage a pulling head 10 of a mandrel 6 of rivet 2, and a supporting segment 38 for engaging the rivet. A single piston- driving device pulls the collet assembly 17 and the mandrel 6 backward with respect to the supporting segment 38 and the rivet 2 to set the rivet. A continued movement of the piston 19 further retracts the collet assembly 17 and the supporting segment 38 to permit delivery of a new rivet in front of the tool and returns the collet assembly and the supporting segment to a forward position in engagement, respectively, with the head of the mandrel 6 and the rivet 2.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up the operation of a tool by providing a means for feeding a component to a chamber of a magazine when the magazine is in a component receiving position and reciprocating mechanism is in the forward stroke. SOLUTION: A feeder 22 is positioned in an extension part 24 of a housing 12, and the extension part 24 includes a feed end 26 of a feed tube for feeding a rivet 2 from a distant supply source. The feeder 22 comprises a rotary magazine 28 fitted to rotate on a shaft 30 at the end of a pivot arm 32. The pivot arm 32 is fitted to the extension part 24 of the housing 12 in the rear position. While a submitting-setting device submits and sets the rivet 2 to a product, a chamber 34 of the magazine 28 is positioned in line with the end 26 of the feed tube, so that the efficiency and working speed of a tool are considerably increased.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a blind rivet setting tool by pulling a head and setting the rivet while restraining the rivet by engaging a rivet head therewith. CONSTITUTION: The assembly 53 of the double head rivet setting tool having the collet assembly of the structure engaging the pull head of the rivet and the abutment assembly 53 is movable between a release position where the pull head of a mandrel 6 of the rivet passes the abutment assembly 53 and the collet assembly engages the same and a closed position where the assembly comes into contact with the rivet head and engages the same. When abutment members 54 are mounted and the double headed blind rivet is presented, the head of the rivet engages the abutment members 54 and when the rivet head is pressed to the tool, the abutment members 54 are securely closed around the mandrel 6. As a result, the cost effective tool of the simple structure may be obtained.
