    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for tightening two-parts fastener which is easy in assembly, small in the number of parts, and relatively lightweight. SOLUTION: In order to tighten a two-parts fastener where a first part 7 must be pulled and a second part 6 must be held for tightening, a blind rivet in particular, the device comprises a housing 1, a feed device 9 on the housing 1 to feed the fastener 8 into the housing 1 through an orifice 12 in the housing 1, and a receiving surface 3 having a gripper 5 at an open end of a pulling parts 4 in a cooperation with a pulling piston 13 which can hold the second part 6 in the tightening process, pull the first part 7 in the tightening process, and is movable in the longitudinal direction along the axis of the housing 1 by a working unit in a first chamber 14.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry a tightening element to different tightening devices by carrying the tightening element to a joining point in a specified direction via a feed channel, setting a first end part forward via a first channel, setting a second end part forward via a second channel, and feeding the tightening element from the joining point. SOLUTION: A tightening element 1 which is a blind rivet is fed to a feed channel. A ram is operated inside a connection channel, the feed channel is opened, and the tightening element 1 is fed to a connection channel 4. The ram is displaced in the direction of a joining point 3, and carries the tightening element 1 to a direction of the joining point 3. The tightening element 1 slides down on a part 5 which is inclined diagonally downward, and reaches the joining point 3. When the tightening element 1 is fed with a head 13 of the first end part forward, the compressed air is applied to a first channel 7 from a branch 12 to feed the element to the tightening device. When the tightening element 1 is fed with a mandrel 14 of a second end part forward, the compressed air is applied to a second channel 8 from the branch 12 to feed the element to the tightening device.

    Abstract: A rivet setting tool for use with double headed blind rivets comprises a collet assembly adapted to engage a pulling head of the rivet, and abutment members movable between an open position, in which the pulling head of the mandrel of the rivet may be passed through the abutment assembly to be engaged by the collet assembly, and a closed position in which the abutment members provide an abutment to engage the rivet head. The abutment members are mounted for generally axial movement and when a double headed blind rivet is presented axially to the tool, the head of the rivet engages the abutment members, and on the rivet being pushed into the tool so that the pulling head is engaged by the collet assembly, the abutment members are moved axially and are caused to close firmly about the mandrel.

    Abstract: To set two-part fasteners (8), in particular blind rivets, in which for setting a first part (7) has to be pulled and a second part (6) held up, a device is proposed with a housing (1), a feed appliance (9) on the housing (1), to transfer a fastener (8) into the housing (1) through an orifice (12) in the housing (1), an abutment (3), which holds up the second part (6) during the setting process, and with a pulling device pulling the first part (7) during the setting process, which has a gripper (5) at an open end of a pulling element (4) which cooperates with a pulling piston (13) which is movable forwards and backwards along an axis of the housing (1) in a first chamber (14) by an actuating unit. To transfer a fastener (8) the pulling element (4) opens the orifice (12). The pulling element (4) extends through the piston (13). The pulling piston (13) and the pulling element (4) are movable relative to one another along the axis. The pulling element (4) has a piston (17) on the end opposed to the gripper (5). A second chamber (21) with variable volume is provided, limited by a casing (22), the piston (17) and the pulling piston (13). A third chamber (23) with variable volume is further provided, limited by a wall (24) and the piston (17).

A single piston drive pulls the collet assembly and the mandrel rearwards relative to the support segments and rivet to set the rivet. Continued movement of the piston further retracts the collet assembly and the support segments to permit delivery of a new rivet at the front of the tool and returns the collet assembly and support segments to a forward position in engagement, respectively, with the mandrel head and the rivet.
