    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mandrel length measuring apparatus being used together with a blind rivet fitting tool. SOLUTION: A system for examining the fitting of blind rivet fits a blind rivet 14, determines the length of a used mandrel stem 80 and compares the length to evaluate the fitting of rivet. The system 10 comprises a rivet fitting unit, a program system control circuit 20, a rivet fitting tool 12, a mandrel system collection box 16, and a collection pipe 78 for coupling the rivet fitting tool 12 and mandrel system collection box 16. A used mandrel stem 80 is passed through the collection pipe 78 and the rivet fitting tool 12 and to the mandrel system collection box 16. A pair of sensors are disposed along the collection pipe 78. Two sensors are disposed relatively closely to the box, provide control circuit 20 with required information and compare the length of mandrel stem 80 while discriminating.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the accuracy of fitting by measuring drawing force of a fitting tool and displacement of a drawing shaft, and obtaining the full energy of a fitting process, and comparing the obtained full energy with an ideal full energy. SOLUTION: A sensor provided in a tool 12 measures the drawing force of a drawing shaft 40 so as to obtain the serial force value, and measures the axial displacement of the drawing shaft 40 so as to obtain the serial displacement value. These values are read at the initial time, and the force versus displacement curve is formed. An integrator 86 utilizes the read value of the selected force versus displacement so as to compute the area of the force versus displacement curve, and integrates this curve so as to obtain the real value of the tool energy of the fitting process. The real energy value is compared with an ideal full energy in relation to the fitting of a rivet 14, which is obtained by an experiment, and quality of the responsiveness of the reference curve is showed so as to show the tolerance of rivet fitting. Accuracy of rivet fitting can be thereby perfectly and securely confirmed.
