Abstract: PURPOSE: To freely open a door to a comparatively wide position during a time in which the door reaches a position where resistance against opening of a door occurs in a non-return state. CONSTITUTION: A door closing device 20 is provided with a housing 34 in which a chamber 44 to contain fluid is formed and selective application of a reaction force to open a door through coupling to a door is controlled, and a piston element 50 is brought into arrangement in the chamber such that a piston element is movable. The piston element is usually positioned on a plane where a front 56 separates first and second parts from each other, and a means is provided to move the piston element to a second part in response to an external force. At least one passage 150 in the housing is formed in a position spaced away from the position of the front of the element in the ordinary position of the piston element by a given distance X. A means is provided to generate a reaction force against opening of the door after the front of the piston element passes through the passage.
