Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing an Interactive Television service. T he method comprises storing user preferences relating to the service and, at one of a Personal Interaction Profile function and a Group Interaction Prof ile function, receiving from a broadcast server information identifying an e vent relating to the interactive service. The received information is compar ed with the user preferences to determine whether a notification should be s ent to the user and, if it is determined that the notification should 10 be sent to the user, the notification is sent to a user device.
