Abstract: Un metodo y disposicion para establecer una sesion multimedia de paquete intercambiado para una terminal movil (A) en comunicacion con otra parte (B), en donde un contexto de PDP (Protocolo de Paquete de Datos) primario se ha activado en una red movil para la terminal movil. Se recibe la informacion en la sesion entrante (paso 5:3) que se ha negociado y acordado entre las partes en comunicacion. Por lo tanto se determina (paso 5:4) si algun recurso de red que provee QoS requerido se requiere para la sesion y si se va a activar un contexto de PDP secundario para la terminal movil y la sesion entrante. Si se requieren los recursos de red y se va a activar un contexto de PDP secundario, se acciona la activacion de dicho contexto de PDP secundario (paso 5:5).

Abstract: In a multimedia environment, end-users are provided with the ability to effectively access, manipulate and share one or more multimedia objects, or select portions thereof, independent of the terminal and/or network capabilities that are associated with the terminals employed by each end-user. This may be accomplished, for example, by identifying a set of multimedia data that is stored in a multimedia database that is accessible by each end-user. The set of multimedia data is then adapted in accordance with an information adaptation service and modified in accordance with a transcoder/scalability service. The functions provided by both of these services are based on a number of user preferences and based on a number of terminal and communication (e.g., network) connection capabilities associated with the terminals corresponding to each of the end-users that are to have access to the modified set of multimedia data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for performing intelligent transcoding of multimedia data between two or more network elements in a client-server or client-to-client service provision environment. Accordingly, one or more transcoding hints associated with the multimedia data may be stored at a network element and transmitted from one network elements to another. One or more capabilities associated with one of the network elements may be obtained and transcoding may be performed using the transcoding hints and the obtained capabilities in a manner suited to the capabilities of the network element. Multimedia data includes still images, and capabilities and transcoding hints include bitrate, resolution, frame size, color quantization, color pallette, color conversion, image to text, image to speech, Regions of Interest (ROI), or wavelet compression. Multimedia data further may include motion video, and capabilities and transcoding hints include rate, spatial resolution, temporal resolution, motion vector prediction, macroblock coding, or video mixing.
