The present disclosure concerns movements, such as handovers, of user equipments (UEs) 120a-e from one radio cell 130a to another radio cell 130b. Disclosed herein are methods as well radio network nodes 110a, 110b. A radio network node 110a, 110b may, for example, select the most suitable UE(s) 20a-e to move from a source radio cell 130a to a target radio cell 130b in case the traffic load in the source radio cell 130a is below or equal to the traffic load of the target radio cell 130b. Hereby it is made possible to improve the resource utilization.

In one aspect, the present invention exploits the fact that the radio interface parameters used for multi-cell operation of a terminal are typically correlated. That is, in the uplink and/or downlink direction, the radio interface parameters used in the two or more cells supporting simultaneous multi-cell communication with the terminal may be related. Accordingly, in one or more embodiments presented herein, a terminal is provided one full set of parameters for the reception of data (downlink communication) and/or transmission of data (uplink communication) in one cell (the anchor serving cell), and some additional (delta) information that describes how the set of parameters for one or more other cells (the secondary serving cells) differs from the first cell. Correspondingly, the terminal is configured to derive the additional parameters needed for communicating in the one or more other cells, based on the full set of parameters and the delta information.

In a radio network which employs adaptive antennas for transmission of data to mobiles methods and apparatus are provided for improving the reception of transmitted data. When a block is to be transmitted in a first beam of the antenna and the block contains information for the mobile in the second beam, a modulation and coding scheme is used for the transmission of the block such that the modulation and coding scheme provides greater protection to the portion of the block containing information for the mobile in the second beam. The use of greater protection for the portion of the block which includes information for the mobile in the second beam increases the probability that the mobile in the second beam can receive and correctly decode the information intended for the mobile in the second beam in the block.

An emergency notification is received from a broadcasting unit, indicating a cell associated to the first communication device, wherein the emergency notification is notified to user equipment. A paging channel is determined that is to be used to page and broadcast a notification indicating an emergency, the broadcast being within the cell. The notification indicating an emergency is ordered to be transmitted on the paging channel. A common control channel, to be used to broadcast an emergency confirm message within the cell, is determined and the emergency confirm message is ordered to be transmitted on the common control channel.

The reception of repeated bursts of identical information in a radio communications system is made faster and more secure by a receiving unit including a device for receiving and processing incoming signals from a transmitting unit in the same radio communications system, a buffer for temporarily storing repeated bursts, and a device for equalizing and combining at least two of the repeated bursts. The receiving unit may also include (for diversity) a duplicated receiving device for receiving signals from two different antennas and an equalizing and combining device for equalizing and combining the signals received by the duplicated receiving device. The receiving unit may be located in a radio base station or in a radio terminal in a radio communications system. The repeated bursts are received and stored in buffers, before the information of at least two repeated bursts is equalized and combined to form a more reliable signal.
