Abstract:
A Level-1 (L1) signaling flag is mapped to unused (invalid) bit sequences in Part 1 of the HS-SCCH - that is, Part 1 bit encodings that are not defined in the UTRAN specifications - and a corresponding L1 command is encoded in Part 2. This allows UE (18) to detect early that the HS-SCCH is pure L1 signaling, and the UE (18) may avoid wasting power by not processing an accompanying HS-PDSCH. Alternatively, in CPC HS-SCCH-less mode, the UE (18) may blind decode the HS PDSCH. In one embodiment, a general DRX mode is defined and controlled via L1 signaling. In one embodiment, a UE (18) acknowledgement improves the L1 signaling accuracy. In one embodiment, a L1 signal and UE (18) acknowledgement protocol are utilized to "ping" a UE (18).
Abstract:
Additional information is included in or used to generate a positioning reference signal to enable detection of a cell identifier “collision” between two different cells associated with two or more base stations. In one example embodiment, a user equipment terminal detects the collision using the additional information included in or used to generate positioning reference signals sent by two or more base stations and reports the collision to the network, and the network resolves the collision by assigning a different cell identifier to one of the colliding cells.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and arrangement for efficient use of network resources, in particular for continuous connectivity services. The present invention introduces a set of established rules for uplink and/or downlink activity detection such that a Node B and/or a UE is enabled to detect active and inactive transmission periods on links for reception of packet data transmission and can independently arrange for inactivity/activity state transitions without any need of further signalling. Such a set of rules can be communicated to the Node B and the user equipment, e.g., from the radio network controller (RNC), or can consist of a predefined set of fixed rules that is readily implemented in said units.
