Abstract:
A system, method and computer readable medium for providing enhanced computer-aided reading is disclosed. A rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) based text file includes data segments having text and related code portions. The code portions at least code the exposure time of the text portion and the duration of the blank window inserted after completion of a sentence. The exposure time of a text portion is dependent on a plurality of text characteristics. The duration of a blank window is dependent on text reading index. When a computer-based reading device reads the text portion and corresponding code portions, a display device displays the text poriton in response to the code portions. Segment exposure time and duration of blank window is scaled to fit a variable mean reading speed.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for generating information for use, for example, in a vehicle for guidance of driver. Information is described by information object specifications determined in part from compiled data related to the vehicle and its immediate environment, navigation area, target area, and user profile. An analysis and control part ( 320, 340 ) of the system creates information objects, optionally assigns priority to the same, and assigns a medium for presentation of an information object. A system state may be determined related to current use of available media. An information object of high priority can cause the control part to reallocate a medium to allow presentation of the high priority information object. The system may further determine need for format transcoding to allow presentation of information on the most appropriate medium.

Abstract:
A system and method for providing enhanced computer-aided reading are disclosed. A rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) based text file includes portions having text and at least one code portion (3) that links to a particular text portion (4) one or more audio files (4) or other files (4) that stimulate a reader's senses. When a computer-based reading device reads the next portion (2) and corresponding code portion (3), the audio file (4) is retrieved and executed substantially in synchronicity with the presentation of the text in the text portion (2). In this way, the reader is presented with an enhanced reading experience.
