A method and devices for performing a handover of a data unit based communication that involves a sequence of data units from a first connection (51) between a first sender (10) and a receiver (4) to a second connection (52) between a second sender (20) and said receiver (4), which comprises indicating to the receiver (4) a reference data unit among data units provided to both the first sender (10) and the second sender as a part of the handover, and where the receiver, based on the reference data unit, keeps a record for identifying such data units among those data units provided to both the first sender (10) and the second sender (20) that were sent over the first connection (51) and successfully received by the receiver (4), prior to the communication having been passed to the second communication (52).

La invencion provee metodos y medios para ayudar al control de la Terminal de un Usuario, UT (240), a tener acceso a un dominio de red de acceso en una red de comunicaciones de radio. Una funcion de MRRM coopera con una entidad A2 de la red de comunicaciones en donde la funcion de MRRM esta dispuesta para llevar a cabo los siguientes pasos, recibir por lo menos un mensaje de informacion de recursos de radio, RRIM, de dicho segundo dominio de red de acceso, el mensaje comprendiendo por lo menos un valor de parametro, X2, de un parametro de recursos de radio, P2, relacionado con la carga de trafico y/o el consumo de recursos de radio y/o las caracteristicas de por lo menos un canal de trafico de radio de dicho segundo dominio de red de acceso; definir un criterio, C, para garantizar el acceso de UT (240) a dicho segundo dominio de red de acceso, en donde C es una funcion de por lo menos el valor de parametro, X2; establecer si dicho criterio, C, se cumple o no para el UT (240); instruir a dicha segunda entidad de autorizacion, A2, en cuanto a que a dicho UT (240) se le autoriza para tener acceso a dicho segundo dominio de red de acceso si el criterio, C, se cumple por dicho UT (240) y se instruye a la segunda entidad de autorizacion, A2, de que al UT (240) no se autoriza para tener acceso al segundo dominio de rede de acceso o si el criterio, C, no se cumple por dicho UT (240).

The invention provides a method for assisting handover of a communication session associated with a UT (240) from a first radio access point, AP1, (210) to a second radio access point, AP2, (220) in a radio access network, said method to be carried out by said AP1 (210) and comprising the steps of: - receiving a handover intention notify message comprising a session identifier identifying said session and indicating that said UT (240) intends to perform a session handover, - assigning said session a buffer memory space (213) in a memory (211) of said AP1 (210), - buffering downlink data packets addressed to said UT (240) in said buffer memory (213) as a response on receiving said handover intention notify message. The invention further provides a UT (240), an AP1, (210), AP2, (220), an AR, (250) and software program/s co-operating and/or realising the method according to the invention. The invention provides a smoother handover.
