Abstract: A method of scheduling packets for transmission over the air interface of a UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) in the case where a pair of Radio Network Controllers (RNCs) are acting as separate serving and controlling (drift) RNCs for a mobile terminal. The method comprises sending from the controlling RNC to the serving RNC, allocated scheduling priorities together with packet sizes accepted for transmission with those priorities by the controlling RNC. Subsequently the serving RNC send to the controlling RNC, packets of sizes accepted by the serving RNC together with respective allocated priorities.

Abstract: Popsán je zpusob rozvrhování paketu pro prenos pres vzduchové rozhraní univerzálního mobilního telekomunikacního systému (UMTS) pozemní síte s rádiovým prenosem (UTRAN) v prípade, kde dvojice radicurádiové síte (RNC) pracuje jako oddelený obslužnýa rídicí RNC pro mobilní terminál. Tento zpusob zahrnuje: vyslání z rídicího RNC do obslužného RNC pridelených rozvrhovacích priorit spolecne s velikostmi paketu, akceptovanými pro prenos s temito prioritami prostrednictvím rídicího RNC; a následné vyslání z obslužného RNC do rídicího RNC paketu s velikostmi akceptovanými obslužným RNC spolecne s príslušnými pridelenými prioritami. Popsána je rovnež UMTS pozemní sít s rádiovým prístupem (UTRAN),zahrnující množství vzájemne propojených radicu rádiové síte (RNC). Když mobilní terminál má oddelený obslužný a rídicí RNC, je rídicí RNC usporádán pro vyslání do obslužného RNC velikostí paketu, akceptovaných pro prenos rídicím RNC, spolecne s pridelenými príslušnými prioritami. Obslužný RNC je usporádán pro vyslání do rídicího RNC datových paketu, majících velikosti akceptované obslužným RNC, spolecne s príslušnými pridelenými prioritami.

Abstract: Error handling in a telecommunications exchange (10) is performed in a process centralized fashion. Certain objects (36) in each process are defensively programmed (40) to detect and report errors. One error handler object (38) is provided for each process, with the error handler object receiving (48, 74) the error reports, analyzing (50, 78) the reports and specifiying error recoveries (52, 80) including a default behaviour for recovery from errors based on a default error analysis. In situations where the default analysis and recovery does not adequately address anticipated errors, specialized error analyses and recoveries are designed for and specified by the error handler object.
