Abstract:
There is disclosed a method and apparatus for displaying greetings to mobile terminals (30) identifying services associated with location based services. The system identifies a plurality of service zones (Z) in the system, and also transmits predefined services to mobile terminals when located in the service zones. The system transmits from each base station (32) local zone profile information to each of the mobile terminals located in those service zones. Each mobile terminal has stored (95) therein subscriber zone profile information for which that mobile terminal can receive location based services. The mobile terminal also stores (95) an associated greeting for each zone of subscriber zone profile information. The mobile terminal compares (97) transmitted local zone information with the list of stored subscriber zone profile information, and when a match is found, the mobile terminal displays (96) the greeting associated with the subscriber zone profile information. By storing the associated greeting in the mobile terminal, the otherwise signaling of greeting information over the air interface is avoided.
Abstract:
A COROROUNICATIONS SYSTEM IN WHICH INFORMATION IS TRANSMITTED IN A PLURALITY OF TIME SLOTS GROUPED INTO A PLURALITY OF SUPERFRAMES WHICH ARE, IN TURN, GROUPED INTO PLURALITY OF PAGING FRAMES. A REMOTE STATION RECEIVES PAGING MESSAGES ONCE IN EACH PAGING FRAME. FIGURE 16
Abstract:
A method for obtaining a report from a mobile station on the status of frames comprising an entire message transmitted to the mobile station is disclosed. First, a polling request is sent to the mobile station from a base station. A status report is then sent to the base station. The polling request specifies whether the mobile station should send the status report on a reservation basis (using a reserved frame) or on a contention basis (using an idle frame). The mobile station then transmits a bit map to the communication system to indicate which frames have been correctly received by the mobile station at the point when it received the polling request.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for monitoring radio link quality in a radiocommunication system comprising the steps of initializing a counter, performing a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) on information read during a timeslot of a paging frame, incrementing the counter if the CRC is successful, decrementing the counter if the CRC fails, and indicating a radio link failure when the counter reaches zero.
