Abstract: An antenna system (100) at a mobile communication station (150) comprises a main unit (101) which comprises at least one network antenna (102), a relay antenna (103) for communication with the mobile station (150) and an interface unit (104) connected to the network antenna (102) and the relay antenna (103). In an attached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by means of a capacitive connection, and in a detached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by an electric far-field connection.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an antenna unit (101) capable of operating in a satellite communication mode. The antenna unit (101) comprises interleaved circular patches for transmitting (102) and receiving (103) radio signals periodical arranged in a first and a second layer. The patches for transmitting (102) in the first layer are arranged in a first lattice (104) and the patches for receiving (103) in the second layer are arranged in a second lattice (105). The first lattice (104) is interleaved with the second lattice (105). Every other patch for transmitting (102) in the first layer has a corresponding patch for receiving (103) in the second layer, where each of the patches for receiving (103) are arranged in such a way that a center axis of the patches for receiving (103) coincide with a center axis of the corresponding patch for transmitting (102).

Abstract: The present invention relates to an antenna unit for a portable radio unit capable of operating in a satellite communication mode. The antenna unit includes a first and a second conformal u-shaped antenna body which are movably arranged to each other. Each of the antenna bodies have a top surface and two outer surfaces. The second antenna body can be slid in and out of the first antenna body. The first antenna body has an array of patches on the top surface and on both of its outer surfaces to receive radio signals. The second antenna body has an array of patches on the top surface and on both of its outer surfaces to transmit radio signals. The antenna unit is coupled to the terminal unit by a hinge which enables the antenna unit to be folded onto the terminal unit.
