Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the sending and receiving of messages between two entities of a physically decomposed telecommunications node, where the media connections of one of the entities is controlled by the other, and in particular to the transport of Vertical Control Protocol messages between two such entities. The invention is suitable for use in the transport of Vertical Control Protocol messages between a media gateway controller and a media gateway of a physically decomposed H.323 gateway, however, that the invention is not limited to use in that application, only. In essence, the invention stems from a realisation that the extended use of the Vertical Control Protocol to more than one signaling transport technology, i.e. IP signaling only, can be provided by converting or transliterating between Vertical Control Protocol messages from the Vertical Control Protocol layer and messages able to be correctly interpreted by the network layer of a chosen signaling transport technology and vice-versa. With this in mind, a protocol adaptation function layer which is adapted to use a protocol adaptation function is provided.
Abstract:
The present invention applies to telecommunication networks, such as wireless mobile networks. In particular, the present invention deals with providing more efficient use of the resources of such mobile networks. The present invention provides in a wireless mobile telecommunications network, having a wireless mobile access interface, a message filter function adapted to remove, store and/or adapt header information from messages transferred to/from a wireless mobile device. The present invention is based on using the SIP signalling channel within the workings of a mobile network system more efficiently.
Abstract:
Being aware of a loss of signalling bearer transport through an IP Connectivity Access Network is an important issue. Therefore, the present invention relies on amending the Policing and Charging Control model with means to provide the IMS infrastructure with subscriptions to and notifications about signalling session events detected on the signalling IP flow transported through the bearer layer. To this end, a P- CSCF, or AF included therein, is amended to allow the establishment of a signalling session for subscription to notification of bearer level events for a signalling IP flow. Apart from that, new processing rules are required at the AF and PCRF for handling the signalling session, the notification of events and the termination of the signalling session.
Abstract:
The invention relates to method of executing a service in a Media Gateway Control Function (12) for establishing a call between a calling party's terminal (8) served by a Mobile Switching Centre (2), and an IP Multimedia Subsystem Service (20). The Media Gateway Control Function (12) is arranged to query a Service Control Point (10) on which an overlay process is loaded. The correct SCP (10) is identified by the MGCF (12) using a correlation identifier originally published by the SCP itself after having received an IN service trigger from an MSC or GMSC. The MGCF will receive call related data from the SCP, such as the original dialled number. This data is used by the MGCF to populate information elements in a SIP Invite message. The invention gives a solution for providing GSM specific information, e.g. dialled number, location information, to an IMS service. This information may not be available to the IMS service through present methods.
Abstract:
An enhanced Voice Call Continuity (VCC) application server and a method are described herein that: (1) assists in establishing an emergency call between a VCC capable User Equipment (UE)(which is located within an IMS network) and a Public Safety Access Point (PSAP); (2) assists in transitioning the emergency call from an IMS domain to a CS domain so the emergency call can be continued when the UE roams from the IMS network to a Circuit Switched (CS) network; and (3) assists the PSAP to call back the UE if the emergency call is dropped while the US is located in the CS network.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for managing access domain selection for a user device accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network. A Call Session Control Function (CSCF) in the IMS network stores an access domain indicator associated with a user s contact address. The access domain indicator is associated with the user s contact address when the user registers with the IMS network. The CSCF sends the access domain indicator to an Access Domain Selection (ADS) function in the IMS network, the access domain indicator to be used by the ADS function in selecting an access domain. This allows the ADS function to select the correct access domain to use when sending messages to the user device.
