Abstract: Metallic powder used in mfr. of Cd electrodes is produced by reacting Cd and Ni ions with a less noble metal (Al, Mg, Zn, Ca) to ppte. a metallic sponge which is dried prior to pressing. The product contains 0.1-10% Ni and an intermetallic cpd. Cd4Ni which strengthens the powder and renders it distortion free when pressed or pelletised.
