    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for moulding an optical lens by means of two moulding shells (10A,10B) and a closing element (11) acting in the periphery thereof. According to the invention, the moulding shells (10A,10B) are placed in holding means (13A,13B). If necessary, one of the holding means (13A,13B) is made to rotate around a centering axis (A) which is common to the unit. The moulding shells (10A,10B) are removed from the holding means (13A,13B) using removing means (14A,14B). The possible inclination of the moulding shells (10A,10B) is verified in relation to a reference plane. If necessary, their position is adjusted in relation to the removing means (14A,14B) which bear them. Both of the moulding shells (10A,10B) are moved towards each other using the removing means (14A,14B) while maintaining their position in relation thereto. The closing element (11) is placed around the moulding shells (10A,10B) and the moulding cavity (12) thus formed is filled. The invention can be used with optical lenses which are made of a polymerizable material.
