Abstract: PURPOSE: To induce the cross-sectional contraction of a closure sleeve by selecting a heat-shrinkable synthetic material to heat the same in a mold for an optical lens of a type wherein the closure sleeve constituting a molding cavity required along with shells is fitted around two molding shells in an annular form. CONSTITUTION: A heat-shrinkable synthetic material of polyester like polyvinyl chloride is formed into a strip-like article 16 on the sections 13A, 13B of molding shells 10A, 10B to be wound to form a closure sleeve 14 and two end portions of this sleeve are locally welded. High temp. air is blown by using a plurality of nozzles turned toward a sub-assembly 17 in a radial direction to heat the subassembly 17. After this heating work cross-sectional contraction can be induced in the closure sleeve 14 according to cooling.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more economical method and apparatus for producing an optical lens from a polymerizable synthetic material. SOLUTION: A mold is assembled in order to produce an optical lens and filled with a molding material and at least the polymn. of the molding material is started. These three operations are performed within the same apparatus and the apparatus includes at least two jaws 12', 12" and these jaws surround the edges of two molding shells 14A, 14B in order to form a mold 13 and at least one of the jaws is movable. Adaptation includes the production of an ophthalmic lens.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for filling a mold capable of largely avoiding an optical flaw generated in a case filling the mold from the top part thereof by filling the mold from the bottom portion thereof. SOLUTION: A mold 10 for producing an optical lens is formed from two molding shells 11A, 11B arranged at edge parts and the annular closure member 12 provided around the molding shells and constituting a molding cavity 13 along the molding shells and a molding material 18 is introduced in the molding cavity 13 from the casting opening provided to the closure member 12 in order to fill the mold 10. The casting opening is provided to the lower part of the molding cavity 13. This mold filling method is adapted to the production of a spectacle lens.
