Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain the suitable correction of astigmatism and field curvature by constituting a single focus lens having partially spherical convex and concave faces so that the refractive index is changed from the optical axis of the lens to its periphery and optical magnification is regulated only by the refractive index independently of geometric magnification. CONSTITUTION: The single focus lens for glasses has partially spherical concave and convex faces 11, 10, changes its refractive index from the optical axis X of the lens to the periphery and regulates the optical magnification only by the refractive index independently of geometric magnification. Thus, the use of the concave and convex faces 11, 10, fixed thickness and the merits of fine picture quality are suitably combined. Consequently, the single focus glasses lens allowed to be easily worked and capable of sufficiently correcting astigmatism and field curvature aberration and suitably reducing the thickness of the center part or the peripheral part is manufactured.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an adjustable optical device, especially for an in-eyeball implant, by providing a front surface and rear surface, at least one of which is provided with a central part as a rotating aspherical shape with a meridian sectional plane satisfying a specific expression. CONSTITUTION: The device consists of a sight correcting optical element with the front surface and rear surfaces, at least one of which is provided with the central part in a rotating aspherical form with a meridian part satisfying an expression I. R1 , K, A2 to A6 in the expression I are numerical parameters and the parameters selected to give some representative curve to a proximity object P, defined by an expression II with respect to an optical system composed of the optical element and the model of a specific eye (when the optical element is an in-eyeball implant, a crystal lens is excluded). In the expression II, N' is the refractive index of an image medium, f' is the focus of the model of the eye and dx ' shows the aberration in sphericality in vertical direction in an image space. Thereby a focal characteristic is provided at two points expression the state of an accurate sight with respect to a far sight and a near sight, and concerning an intermediate sight between these two sights a user is given a most comfortable sight.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve visual acuity of a person suffering from macular degeneration by using a positive ophthalmological lens of high magnification placed in front of an eye and a negative intraocular lens of high magnification embedded after removing the crystal lens and making at least each one face of both lenses a rotary aspheric surface. CONSTITUTION: This optical system is composed of a positive ophthalmological lens 10 of high magnification placed in front of an eye to be treated and a negative intraocular lens 11 of high magnification embedded in the eye 12 after removing the crystal lens, and at least each one face 21, 25 of both lenses 10, 11 is a rotary aspheric surface. The generating line of the rotary aspheric surface is preferably a conic section, and a conic section containing rotary aspheric surface can be expressed by Formulae I and II. In Formula I and II Z is the coordinate along the axial line, and r =X +Y where X and Y are coordinates on the plane perpendicular to the axial line, R1 and R5 are the radii of curvature of the plane in the center, and K1 and K5 are conical constants that can derive the planes of desired conic section bus line from the basic spherical plane of radii R1 and R5. The use of appropriate conical constant K1 and K5 gives ellipse for the generating line of the front face 10, 11 when the image formed on retina is of good quality.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To optionally minimize maximum thickness by defining a system for changing a refractive index by a rule that the absolute value of optical magnification of a lens is sharply larger than geometric magnification at the time of calculating the optical magnification by using a refractive index on the optical axis of the lens. CONSTITUTION: The maximum thickness of a single focus glasses lens having a partially spherical convex face 10 on one side and a concave face 11 and capable of changing its refractive index in the diameter direction from the optical axis X of the lens to its periphery is minimized. The system for changing the refractive index is defined by the rule that the absolute value of optical magnification of the lens is sharply larger than geometric magnification at the time of calculating the optical magnification by using the refractive index on the optical axis X of the lens. The absolute value of the optical magnification is at least 1.5 times the geometric magnification. Consequently, the single focus glass lens allowed to be easily worked and capable of sufficiently correcting astigmatism and field curvature aberration and suitably reducing the maximum thickness is manufactured.
