Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a multi-focal lens where a desired vertical position of an eye in an orbit and the change (reduction) of the close vision distance accompanied with aging are taken into consideration. CONSTITUTION: A main longitude part up placed in an intermediate vision distance area VI and a close vision area VP is divided into a first section DC forming an angle α to the perpendicular line and a second section CP forming an angle ω to the perpendicular line. In this case, the value of the angle α is an increment function of an added value A of the degree of a lens, and the angle (ω) is smaller than the angle α. At a point C where these two sections meet, an average spherical value of an aspherical surface S corresponds to a degree added value which is 0.8 to 0.92 times as large as the nominal degree added value of the lens.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multifocal lens which is formed in consideration of the upper and lower preferable positions of the eye within the eye socket-and variation (decrease) in shortsightedness with the age. SOLUTION: A principal longitude part DP positioned in an intermediate sight distance area VI and a short sight area VP is divided into 1st section DC which is at an angle α to a perpendicular and a 2nd section CP which is at an angle ω to the perpendicular. In this case, the value of the angle αis an increase function of an additional value A of the diopter of the lens and the angle ωis smaller than the angle α. At the point C where those two sections meet each other, the mean spericity value of an aspherical surface A corresonds to a diopter additional value which is 0.8-0.92 time as large as the nominal diopter additional value of the lens.
