Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an ophthalmic lens grinding machine capable of adapting a machining process to the kind of glass to be formed and machining quickly and accurately without a counterweight or a spring. CONSTITUTION: This grinding machine includes a grooved block 17 born on the end of a veneer 13. The grooved block 17 has an elliptic slot 18, and a disc 12 mounted on a lens shaft 11 is moved in the slot 18. In this grinding machine, positive connection is applied between the veneer 13 driven by a motor 15 and a frame head 4 by the grooved block 17. Accordingly, the position of inclination of the frame head 4 relative to the frame head shaft 7 is directly controlled by the position of the veneer 13. The motor 15 for driving the veneer 13 is controlled in relation to the inclination position of the gripping means 8, 9 and the complete form of the lens.
