The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving electronics program guide (EPG) information in voice. The voice EPG information transmitting/receiving apparatus reduces the burden loaded on a receiver by creating a voice EPG document, which is a content, in advance in a broadcasting station system and provides the EPG information to users in a familiar voice or in both voice and graphics.

The present invention provides a gateway for transforming a terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) contents. A gateway for transforming a terrestrial DMB contents includes an ensemble transport interface (ETI) demultiplexing unit for dividing the terrestrial DMB contents having ETI frame format into a fast information channel (FIC) and a main service channel (MSC); a session description protocol (SDP) packet processing unit for converting the FIC into a SDP packet; a transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) packet generating unit for generating a TCP/IP packet based on the SDP packet; a real-time transport protocol (RTP) packet processing unit for converting the MSC into a first RTP packet; a user datagram protocol/Internet protocol (UDP/IP) packet generating unit for generating a UDP/IP packet based on the RTP packet; and an IP output unit for transmitting the TCP/IP packet and the UDP/IP packet through an IP network.

The transformation apparatus includes a program specific information (PSI) extracting unit extracting PSI of a first stream and transmitting the first stream to a time code extracting unit a PSI analyzing unit analyzing the PSI of the first stream and acquiring construction information thereof; a PSI modifying unit for modifying the PSI information based on PSI modification information; the time code extracting unit for extracting time code information from the first stream based on stream information; a time code modifying unit for modifying a time code of a second stream based on the time code information; a stream erasing unit for erasing a stream piece of the first stream based on stream erasing information from the user; and a multiplexing unit for multiplexing the modified PSI, the modified first stream and the modified second stream.

In the transmission system, a data broadcasting transfer server transfers the data broadcasting contents, and a control command transfer server generates control command data according to a control action of a service provider with respect to the data broadcasting contents. A multiplexer multiplexes the data broadcasting contents and the control command data and transmits the multiplexed data broadcasting contents and control command data through data channels.
